چکیده
Summary Ditylenchus rafiqi n. sp. was recovered from the rhizosphere of pomegranate in New Delhi (India), and it is characterised by morphological, morphometrical molecular methods. The new species having a body length 553-901 μ m, delicate stylet (7-10 m long), longer conus (5.0-5.5 females 4.5-5.5 males) with small round knobs sloping backward, seven lateral lines at mid-body, median bulb well developed thickening lumen walls, post-uterine sac (27-47 m), tail long, elongate conoid an almost terminus (45-74 m) male spicule 15-17.5 gubernaculum simple, leptoderan type bursa enveloping >50% its length. A detailed study based on morphological methods clearly demarcates that D. differs other known . characterisation done using D2-D3 28S rRNA ITS markers. Molecular shows closely related to acutus , gilanicus (D2-D3 marker), medicaginis (ITS markers). Based phylogenetic analyses LSU markers, forms intermediate clade between triformis dipsaci groups.

The role of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) in colon cancer.
Colon cancer is one of the major causes of cancer-related death in the Western world. Although cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents are available to treat the disease, these agents become ineffective as the disease advances to an invasive state. An alternative but viable approach to reduce the incidence of this deadly disease is then, to increase the dietary intake of relatively non-toxic fruits a...

A complete protocol is presented for in vitro regeneration of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.), a tropical fruit tree, using cotyledonary nodes derived from axenic seedlings. Shoot development was induced from cotyledonary nodes on Murashige and Skoog (1962) (MS) medium supplemented with 2.3±23.0 mM benzyladenine (BA) or kinetin (Kn). Both type and concentration of cytokinin signi®cantly in ̄uen...
متن کاملINVITED REVIEW Biotechnological advances in pomegranate (Punica granatum L.)
Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is known for its nutritional, medicinal, and ornamental importance. It is conventionally propagated by hardwood and softwood cuttings, but about 1 yr is needed before the rooted cuttings can be transplanted to the field. Propagation by seed is undesirable as populations are heterozygous and seed propagation leads to wide variations in tree and fruit characterist...
